Message	Sounds like it started off as a light rod knock ( some get confused and think its vtc or lifter tick ). The loud noise was the rod knock getting worse. I would bet that there is a hole in your block. Just get another NA motor or this would be the time for a conversion. Sucks to hear. Good luck.
